Rob van Avesaath

Rob is a sculptor in the traditional sense. An artists who makes three-dimensional objects to lend beauty to outside spaces. He draws inspiration from conversations with people and nature. Leaving his thoughts as monuments wrought from the earth.

His designs

Rob’s designs in robust, unyielding metal appear to be as light and delicate as the drawing in chalk and charcoal from which they originate. This is exactly Rob’s intention and how he succeeds. Picking out lines from thin air with steel he has beaten into submission, creating the illusion of fragility as though carried by the wind. Sculptures that will cast their shadows for generations to come, protecting those same generations from harm.

Cabinets of Curiosity

We are curious makers of things, things we dream up ourselves. Remarkable, useful, beautiful and original things. Sometimes they are made entirely by hand, sometimes partly by machine, in the future perhaps by robots. May be not robots. Always with an eye for detail and with an element of fun.

If you care to follow this blog and join our journey, we’ll share our successes and (occasional) failures with you and hopefully you’ll become a frequent visitor. Suppose that depends on us keeping you entertained. So let’s get on with the words and pictures.
