Some people are just born to make things, it’s in their DNA. Like an inner voice, it drives them. Erik Hoedemakers could have equally been a sculptor or a painter, but the medium he chose was wood and being a practically minded person he knew he wanted to combine both beauty and functionality.
His work is a perfect embodiment of the traditions of Dutch heritage, elegantly appealing and practical. It never tries to steal the show through shouting, but instead confidently and quietly, it waits to be noticed because it invariably does.
