It started with a treat, time for another?

Work by Annette Koehnen
38Is there anything more terrifying than placing an order for something that still has to be made? Remember the first time you ordered an ice-cream sundae? Lots more expensive than a cone from the kiosk. Will it be good, of course it will, like a cone, only better. The delight, the reward when it eventually arrived, so much more enjoyable than it dripping off your elbow. A real experience, so much so you still remember it. Now you are big, you can order other stuff too. There has to be a first time.
If only the things that we ordered were made, would fewer things be made? You bet. Would you know what to order if there was no menu, no list, no catalogue? If you could only order what you could describe without examples. Could you do it? Perhaps it is a good thing we have designers.

Cabinets of Curiosity

We are curious makers of things, things we dream up ourselves. Remarkable, useful, beautiful and original things. Sometimes they are made entirely by hand, sometimes partly by machine, in the future perhaps by robots. May be not robots. Always with an eye for detail and with an element of fun.

If you care to follow this blog and join our journey, we’ll share our successes and (occasional) failures with you and hopefully you’ll become a frequent visitor. Suppose that depends on us keeping you entertained. So let’s get on with the words and pictures.
